Today, bounding gracefully across Blue Heron Drive, one deer, then another and then six more crossed from a tiny patch of woods into an empty lot.  "Deer!  Deer, mom!" my son cried out from the back seat.  A doe stopped momentarily to gaze back apprehensively at use as we slowed to a crawl.  "Now that was a quality sighting," I remarked as we continued on to school.  It's amazing how such tiny footprints of fragmented forest can still somehow provide shelter, food and trails for deer, coyote, hawks, possum and a large variety of other wildlife.  Watching the deer skitter off along a fence line, I wondered, How much is too much?  How much fragmentation of their habitat can wildlife withstand?

Around one area of Dunham Lake, there is a large fenced off area with signs saying, No Trespassing...Keep out!"...
