GLOBAL CLIMATE CHANGE WORKSHOP WEDS. MAY 23 7:00pm
Highland, Michigan - The Highland Conservancy will be hosting a multi-media presentation on Wednesday May 23 entitled Global Climate Change: The Science and Solutions. This event, based on an interpretation of the movie An Inconvenient Truth, will be held at 7:00PM at the Highland Township Senior Center located at 209 North John Street in Highland Station. This event is open to the general public and is free of charge.
The formal portion of the program will consist of a slide/video presentation given by Dr. Kathryn Savoie. Selected from thousands of applicants, Dr. Savoie attended the first training program with Al Gore and a team of scientists and educators from The Climate Project. The Climate Project was initiated as a grass roots effort to educate and energize the public regarding the threat of global climate change. Since participating in the September 2006 training conference, Dr. Savoie has given more than 35 presentations on the subject of Global Warming throughout the state of Michigan. The presentation will be followed by a Q&A and an open discussion session.
Dr. Savoie received her Ph.D. in ecology from the University of Michigan in 1990, and has over 20 years experience in the environmental field. Dr. Savoie currently serves as the Environmental Program Director for ACCESS, where she directs community-based programs in environmental education, environmental health research and advocacy for environmental justice.
